Netflix: Born Into Brothels

I watched this documentary on Netflix last night. It was very powerful and moving for me. It deals with children whose mothers serve as prostitutes in the Red Light District of Calcutta, India. Many of these prostitutes are the result of human trafficking. They are sold by their families to be sexual slaves. If they rebel or try to escape, they can sometimes be punished by murder. Some of the girls in this documentary were dealing with the fact they may end up like their mothers. Either the mom's pimp gets a hold of them, or a family member sells them off to another trafficking place. Either way, these girls have a dismal future. I watched this as a result of a ministry my church is doing with women who are sexual slaves in India. While watching this film, I was struck by the youthfulness of these children despite their grim setting. I saw them given a gift by the photographer who did the documentary and applauded the photographer's attempts to try and help these children. This documentary also helped me realize just how spoiled and blessed I am. How I would love to go over and bring some of these children back here to live with me, if I could financially manage it. If you want to find out more about these children, I highly recommend this movie.

Concert

I know, it's been a while. I haven't felt like writing much. I just wanted to post some pictures from the concert I went to on Friday night, the 19th. It was the Million Voices Tour. The opening acts were Brooke Barrett-Smith and Jimmy Needham. The main act was Barlow girls.
