Oxford University Press removes words associated with Christianity from children�s dictionary - Tom Gross - The Media Blog on National Review Online
What in the world? What is happening in this world? We are now willing to delete words out a child's vocabulary?! Never mind that these words are still culturally significant. Hmmm.... do you think some of these words might come in handy while studying history? Knowing how to define voicemail is more important then defining empire? Do you have to keep the dictionary at 10,000 words? Is that why they are deleting some words? Language does evolve and change and some words are replaced with other words. But they're replaced by words that have a similar meeting, rather then wiping them out of existence. If I ever become a mother, the public school system is not touching my child's education.
